Life in The Fairmount – Our Porchtrait Project

Meet the Owre’s over in the 1900 block of Alston Ave.

I loved meeting Amelia and Zander and their children Lucas (5) and Lila (2). It was also fun to meet next door neighbor CC who is the “child whisperer” for the 21 or so children who live in the block or two surrounding the Owre’s. I hope to have the opportunity to photograph CC and her mom for the Porchtrait Project. For now you can meet her in photo #1 below ☺️.

When I asked Amelia my Porchtrait Project question’s about life during Shelter In Place, here is what she had to say….

I’m Amelia, my husband is Zander and our kiddos are Lucas (5) and Lila (2).

What’s been the most difficult thing for you about shelter in place/social distancing?

Having to maintain physical distance from friends and family with our two small children. It’s just so hard for little ones to understand.

What do you look forward to the most?

Block parties! We have the best neighbors, and we can’t wait for all of us to be able to get together again as a group.

How long have you lived in Fairmount?

Just over 3 years.

Share your favorite thing about living in Fairmount?

For us, what’s most special about this neighborhood is how welcoming everyone is and the overall sense of community. We moved here knowing no one in Fort Worth, and quickly found a neighborhood full of friends.

What is your favorite business in Fairmount? (And why)

This one’s hard, there are so many great businesses! Our go-to food spot is Dos Juanitos, it’s SO good, and right down the street. And we love Proper for parents night out, their cocktails are fantastic.

What kind of work do you do?

I work for a drone training company, and my husband is a Navy pilot.

What’s been the best activity you’ve done during social distancing?

Movie night at Coyote Drive-In! It was such a great way to get out of the house while still maintaining social distancing.
