14 Aug Christina, A Love For Friends
While admiring this special photo today I was reminded of how much Christina loves her friends and expresses it in a way that is unique to each. I love how she writes the most beautiful thank you cards. Knowing how much I appreciate them, she remembers to express her love to me in that way, I treasure my stack of notes from her over the years.
Just the other day, I met a dear lady that attends the same church as Christina. Knowing that she had become acquainted with Christina only recently, I expressed my regrets that she may not have known her long enough to fall in love with her as many of us have. I loved her response: “That happened when she said hello.” That’s Christina. I think her friends will attest that she makes it very easy to be friends. Christina loves deeply and it is so easy to love her in return. Case in point, that sweet girl on Christina’s right in my photograph today.
1986 was a good year; not only did Carol and I welcome our first baby, Christina, into this world, but our good friends did as well with their firstborn, Kimberly. Born in the same hospital only hours apart, Kimberly was placed in a crib first, where she waited patiently for her first childhood friend to arrive. I’m pretty sure Kimberly will attest it was worth the wait. Over the years, Christina and Kimberly have made life decisions that have taken them to separate, various corners of the earth, but their loyalty and love for each other has remained steadfast. Throughout life, each knows that the other would drop anything to aid them if the situation required it. What a picture of love, commitment, and friendship. Thank you Kimberly for being by Christina’s side once again.
“A friend loves at all times.”
Proverbs 17:17
I would love to hear from you on some of the ways you experienced Christina’s love.
