22 Apr Reunited with Carissa in Lausanne, Switzerland
It was wonderful to be reunited with Carissa after the longest separation since her birth. To have our reunion take place in Switzerland, where she has been studying abroad for the past year, added to the layers of beauty. With Carissa as our guide we were introduced to the people, places and foods that have made her stay here in Lausanne so special.
My friend Lenneke who I met recently in Thailand was teaching in a nearby city and joined us for our day of exploring Lausanne. Even without the elephant ride that had sealed mine and Lenneke’s friendship in Thailand, Carol and Carissa’s friendship with Lenneke was quickly cemented over Moroccan tea, exploring a 12th century cathedral and crepes in the Parc De Mon Repos. We ended this memorable day with dinner in Luchy overlooking beautiful Lake Geneva. It seems that the Swiss eat and tell stories a lot which agrees with me quite well.
Spring in Switzerland brings an abundance of flowers, the most noteworthy were the tulips in the most amazing aray of vibrant colors, they reminded me of the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote – The Earth laughs in flowers 🙂
