11 Apr REFLECTING ON THIS YEARS CHRISTINA MOSLEY FURR AWARD AT THE HISTORY DEPARTMENT BANQUET AT SAMFORD UNIVERSITY (2018)
Carol and I are grateful to have met this years recipient of the Samford award named in honor of Christina. Mary Hailey Sinyard has a beautiful and contagious spirit and we wish her the best in her endeavors in China after graduation. We love her passion for pursuing a law degree for the purpose of assisting in international adoptions.
These photographs are my photo diary from our time with friends we consider family in Birmingham Alabama.
- Jasper loves our visits! He’s a good fill-in for Inchy as my therapy dog, I love scratching his head ??
- Thank you Abby and Trevor Newberry for the “Mosley suite”! The best books, beautiful art, interesting conversations and always a fascinating project underway. One of my favorite places to wake up to!
- Latte from Revelator coffee
- Thank you Bryan Johnson and Ashley Gavin Johnson for having breakfast with us at Urban Standard. Never enough time to chat with two of my favorite people. I still want to be Bryan when I grow up!!
- Thank you Caroline Williams Janeway and Lauren Doss for having lunch at Real and Rosemary, next time we have to get a photo together!
- Thank you S Jonathan Bass for honoring our precious Christina at the annual history banquet. Carol and I are so grateful.
- They do it right in the south… no baked chicken at the banquets here, pulled pork and all the trimmings from Jim N Nicks
- One of my favorite Christina stories is of being recognized by her teachers and friends since her kindergarten days with “oh, so you are Christina’s dad!!” This greeting from former Samford librarian (and Christina’s employer) Elizabeth Wells was one of my all time favorites. It was great to see you again Elizabeth!
- Thank you Marlene hunt Rikard for always sharing sweet stories about Christina and for being one of her favorite history teachers.
- Thank you Chris Doss for all the amazing stories you told us about Alabama’s history. Mr Doss is a part of the 1957 graduating class when Samford University was Howard College. That’s 61 years ago ?
- Birmingham vs Auburn, always a big rivalry!
