Up in the mountains near Pastor Mateo’s home

For those who prayed for our group of four who journeyed to Mexico, we are grateful, your prayers were felt.
It has been a privilege for me to accompany Derrick from Mosaic Church in Fort Worth, along with my son Marshall and his wife Tessa, and see God use them to bring hope to a community that has little. To watch them be a part of the body of Christ to people who need to know that they are loved.It was an honor to be invited into the homes and lives of those who are hurting. To pray for those who are in darkness and illuminate that space with a light that only God can provide.
We have heard stories that pulled at our hearts, like 16 year old Jordan who’s mother died from a stroke and was sent here from Tijuana to live with a relative that has no room. Children that beg on the streets and have no home. Dear sweet Inocenta who has lost her eyesight.

It has been a moving experience to watch Tessa use her Spanish to interpret for our group, as well as her heart for others to make beautiful connections. And yes, there have been moments of levity here as well, such as when Ponchita, a parrot with “attitude” decided to be a part of the group prayer.

The images you see here are a reflection of hearts that we will not soon forget.

: This sweet family cooked most of our meals, the precious little girls name is Melina, to her right is grandmother Auria and behind her is great grandmother Yolanda.

: This is Bernato, he, along with many other children in the community gather at pastor Damián’s house for food every day.

: The railroad tracks shown here in Villa Comaltitlan have historically been been a drop off point for those escaping the social and economic problems of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

: This is Daisy, she too lives down the road from pastor Damián’s house and comes their frequently for food, along with her seven brothers and sisters.

: This soft spoken girl was brought to us with a leg wound causing her much pain. Tessa recognized her need for medical attention and our group from Mosaic Church facilitiated her obtaining treatment at a nearby clinic. Juanita was very grateful for Tessa’s nursing skills and compassionate heart.
